Luther's Buzzy Day

Char Bee buzzed into E.W. Luther Elementary School this week to show 1st and 2nd graders his novel design for beepods, which are more accessible and less expensive to maintain and harvest honey -- and, Char Bee says, make for happier bees -- than traditional human-made hives.

SMHS acapella singers become Treblemakers

SMHS, Mil Town Treblemakers, Marian Center

The Mil Town Treblemakers, an acapella singing group started by former South Milwaukee Hig School students, is having a spring concert.
 
Two performances as scheduled. Here are the details:
 
When:  June 1, 7 p.m.
            June 2, 7 p.m.
Where:  Marian Center in St. Francis
Cost: $7 at the door, $5 if purchased by Wednesday, May 15.

Above and Beyond the Call of Duty

E. W. Luther School, Janet Horrigan

 On this last day of Teacher Appreciation Day, I want to give a great shout-out to E.W. Luther teacher Janet Horrigan. I volunteer a few hours a week in her classroom and she has instilled in me an even greater respect for public school teachers than I did before. She is about the most capable teacher I've seen in action, handles crises and challenges so smoothly and in a way to minimize disruption and negative impact on her class.
